DAPP Clothes and Shoes fundraising project has partnered with MTN Zambia, to allow customers to buy second hand clothes and shoes cashless, using the MTN Mobile Money platform.

The move is meant to make buying in DAPP shops easy and convenient and also help stop the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the exchange of cash.

DAPP in Zambia Programs Director Mwansa Katunga, noted that the partnership with MTN was just one step in DAPP’s continuous strive to provide better services to customers in the shops which have been developed over many years as a social enterprise to create triple value of; creating employment, promoting sustainable use of clothes and supporting DAPP social development projects throughout the country.

And Ndola City Mayor Jones Kalyati who officiated at the launch of the partnership, congratulated DAPP for its efforts in tackling the climate change through the sale of second hand clothes and shoes, which reduces the need for manufacturing of new clothes which has detrimental effects on the environment.

Mr. Kalyati also observed that the second hand clothes and shoes sector was a key player in national economic development as evidenced by the thousands of jobs it has created in the city of Ndola and nationwide.
