The Gala was held on 15 November 2024 to celebrate the achievements of young people across Nkwazi, Chipulukusu and Kawama communities showcasing the power of sports in building leadership, unity, and resilience among Zambia’s youth.

 

“Through this event and through our activities in the DAPP Youth in Action Clubs, I have learned teamwork and leadership while staying healthy. It’s not just about winning games; it’s about winning in life,” said James Mofya, one of the youth participants.

 

The Youth in Action Project goes beyond sports. Members conduct clean-up campaigns, facilitate climate actions through planting of trees and are trained in vocational skills such as bricklaying, tailoring, and food processing.

 

Over 930 youths are actively channeling their energy and potential in building their futures through skills development programs. Two clubs have since received financial support to rear broiler chickens and to do individual businesses through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

 

Ndola District Commissioner Joseph Phiri commended the initiative through his representative Harriet Ngosa

Through dedication and hard work, our youth inspire change and lead the way to a better future. When we invest in sports, we invest in the development of strong, healthy, and focused young people.”

 

“Take action now, inspire others, and continue building a foundation for a brighter Zambia. The leadership of tomorrow starts today,” concluded Commissioner Phiri.
