The Families are Nations organization awarded DAPP Zambia for its contributions towards alleviating poverty and community empowerment at the International Day of the Family (IDF) commemorations. It is inspiring to note that, our endeavors to create development in communities together with the people by sharing necessary skills, knowledge and tools to fight poverty, illiteracy and disease; are being recognized.

DAPP joined in the commemorations of the IDF which is held annually on 15th May, this year it was commemorated on Monday 16th May in Choongwe District of Lusaka. The theme was "Families, Healthy Lives and Sustainable Future”, highlighted the importance of the role of families and family policies in promoting healthy lives and the well-being of everyone at all ages. Families are the 'basic core' of our society - we are born into them and some of the most important developing years of our lives are spent growing up with our families.

Honorable Minister of Community Development and Social Welfare Emerine Kabanshi, was the guest of Honor, in her speech she recommended DAPP for the contributions towards the hampers provided to the vulnerable families and its efforts to alleviate poverty. The event was also characterized by exhibitions from cooperating partners. DAPP also participated in the exhibitions.
